Feel the Need for Lace!

I have done so many socks lately that I really need to take a break from them! what better way than to do a lace shawl right ladies! I just have to figure out which one to do! I want to purchase a few patterns..... but maybe I should buy the book, A Gathering of Lace, then I have a dozen patterns for a good price? what do you guys think?

mini birch

so here is the finished birch. I'm a bit disappointed : I cast 199 st because I only had 2 skeins of KSH, but I should have cast on more stitches : the shawl is rather small and I have 3/4 skein left. But the result is a nice sweet kerchief to protect my throat in case of a cold wind. I keep wearing it ! And I'm glad to say "I've (almost) made one too !"

Location of Pattern

One other question... yeah I'm the question girl........Where do I find a pattern for the Birch Shawl? I have seen some partial pictures and I would like to have the pattern. Just in case.

Well I'm game!

I have wanted to knit a shawl for a while. Now that I have found this group I think I may be more focused to do so. One question is, does the shawl have to be lace? I have done a couple of shawls that were more for warmth then decoration. Just a thought.

a new shawl

I've just started a birch shawl. In kid silk haze, pearl color. I only have 2 skeins so I cast on 199 stitches instead of 299. We'll see how large it will be. KSH is a real pleasure to knit, like a little cloud... so I now have 2 shawls knitted at the same time : birch and a pink mohair one I (almost) designed.

Two for the price of one!

here are the Specs on my latest shawls!

Birch, is from kidsilk haze.. it is a stole, or really wide scarf.

Leaf Lace Shawl from fibertrends! I used Cherry Tree Hill DK silk in the color sarengeti. This was fabulous to work with! If I make andther DK shawl, this is the stuff I will use! ;)

finished !

At last, I finished my faroe shawl ! The last ranks were soooo long to do ! But It's now blocked, and warm, smooth, light. I'm very very happy with it ! Now I've got a green one, a white one. There's a pink one in progress... I hesitate between having a little break in knitting shawls or going straight away to knitting a new one. I've seen a wrap in "wrap styles" : wrapped in tradition. Unfortunately, I've not enough yarn to make it in a beautiful soft violet. I'm looking at the second skein that would allow me to make it : phildar aurore, violine color, dye #070 T 103. Good knitting !
